Russell's running journey began in 2016 with road races in the Middle East, but everything shifted a year later when he discovered trail running in Mexico.
Since then, he’s steadily progressed from 50 km ultras to attempting 100 milers — and now into the 200-mile category.
In 2023, Russ entered the Moab 240 Endurance Run, a brutal 386 km course through Utah’s mountains and desert. He made it to mile 75 before pulling out — an early chapter in a longer story. He’s heading back in 2025 to finish the race and has several big endurance projects lined up for 2026.
Russ runs with purpose and consistency, often solo, navigating remote terrain and managing his own pace, gear, and mindset. His minimalist approach is deliberate — built around gear that works and nothing more.
Before moving overseas, Russ worked as a greenkeeper in New Zealand. He wore Norsewear daily through freezing mornings and hot afternoons. “It handled both extremes — and just lasted. I wore it because it worked."
That same gear is still part of his rotation today — not out of nostalgia, but practicality. Whether training in the Baja heat or pushing through alpine trails, Norsewear remains part of the system that keeps him moving.
