At Norsewear, sustainability is woven into everything we do. We’re committed to making products that perform exceptionally well while respecting the planet, animals, and communities around us. Our approach focuses on five key areas:

Product quality
Sustainability starts with durability. Our gear is built to last, reducing waste by ensuring it doesn’t end up in landfill after just a season. With timeless design and superior craftsmanship, our products offer long-term performance and reliability, minimising the need for constant replacements. We back our quality so much we even offer a Fair-Go Guarantee that means if you feel your gear hasn’t held up, we’ll sort you out with a replacement.
Animal welfare
We only source wool from farms that uphold the highest standards of animal welfare. Our farmers treat their sheep with respect, ensuring they’re raised in healthy, ethical conditions.

Environment
We prioritise renewable, biodegradable materials and actively work to minimise our carbon footprint, from energy-efficient manufacturing to sustainable packaging. We haven’t yet figured out a way to make a comfortable, durable, and high-performance sock without the use of some petrochemical-based fibres like nylon and elastane, which really bugs us. But we continue to explore renewable options with our suppliers and hope that one day we can make a high-performance sock out of 100% renewable materials. Our factory runs on renewable electricity, primarily from nearby Tararua wind farms, and we minimise waste through recycling, water conservation, and responsible wastewater treatment. There’s still more to do, and we’re committed to ongoing improvements.
Local community
As a 100% New Zealand-owned business, we believe in supporting local – whether it’s sourcing raw materials, manufacturing in NZ, or providing jobs that strengthen our community. Some of our team have been with us for over 40 years, a testament to the value we place on people and craftsmanship.
Traceability: from farm to finished product
Transparency is key. We’ve transitioned to fully traceable, Wool Integrity NZ certified wool, ensuring every step of its journey is ethical and sustainable. From the farm to the final product, we want you to know exactly where your Norsewear gear comes from – no ifs, no buts.
